From the moment this sweet little girl arrived for her carnival-themed cake smash session, I knew we were in for a treat—literally! Decked out in the most adorable pastel pink romper with ruffles, sweet pony tail, and the biggest, brightest smile, she brought all the girly vibes and sunshine to the studio.

As a Calgary and Cochrane cake smash photographer, I’ve seen all kinds of themes—but there’s something extra magical about carnival colors, sugary treats, and a baby who loves to party. Her setup was full of whimsy: vintage, soft circus animals, fairy lights, and a cake that looked like it was plucked straight from the midway (or maybe the Stampede!).

She dove in with the tiniest fingers and the biggest giggles. Frosting flew. Her laughter echoed. Her eyes sparkled like the lights on a Ferris wheel. She gave us the full range of baby emotions: silly faces, curious glances, frosting-covered grins, and even a few happy claps.

We wrapped the session with a warm bubble bath in our little vintage tub—she splashed to her heart’s content while I snapped away. It was one of those sessions that reminded me exactly why I love what I do: capturing pure, unscripted joy.
